ATTENTION: If you are in your 30's, 40's, or 50's you can't eat like you did when you were in your 20's.

Eating very little doen't mean you will lose weight.

One of the most common complaints I hear from my clients who are 20 plus pounds overweight is that they would eat very little and excercise regularly but still not lose weight.

When the mind perceives a lack of food, it automatically tells the body the best way to survive and fires it into action. Your body goes into a state of starvation and holds on to as much fat weight as possible. This is why very low-calorie diets don't work and are never sustainable.

When your body is not in starvation mode and you're eating the right amount of food, that is when it begins to burn your fat stores for energy and that is when you begin to lose weight.

My name is Matt Straight, an international fitness trainer, nutritionist, and creator of the Fitness HC's 12 week body transformation system.

I began working in the fitness industry in 1999, as a fitness instructor. Along the way I have done some acting on mainstream TV programs in New Zealand and some TV commercials and I have even modeled sportswear.

In 2003, I completed a certificate in nutrition at the Auckland Institute of Technology. I started prescribing specific nutrition to my clients to help them accelerate their results.

I have also earned certification as a master trainer and have had the chance to educate others to become personal trainers themselves. I have managed gym clubs in Cebu, Manila, India, and Australia.

You know, it's hard to ride a bike if no one has ever shown you how to ride one. You can try on your own, but you're inevitably going to fall. When someone is there to each you and help you that's when you make the most progress.
